Birthday Gifts and other projects…

Made gifts are terribly time consuming but you really put your heart into them. You hope they will be appreciated and not given away lightly because the recipient just does not like them. It’s a toss-up — do you put the time into hand-made and take the chance or… a trip to the store and buy something trivial but safe.
Today I will finish up the painting on a special gift… a bit out of my comfort zone as I am painting on a wooden rocking giraffe rather than on a canvas. But, it is looking pretty cute and could turn out to be a family heirloom… who knows. If I can finish the painting today, I will start the varnish tomorrow and hopefully have it ready with enough coats of varnish dry for her birthday on November 4th. Will be fun to see my little granddaughter’s reaction!

About Kat Bryan Wallace

I am a two-dimensional artist and writer working with memories interpreted in paintings, drawings, photographs and my writing. Memory is powerful but not perfect… it changed like a raw photographic image will never return to its original image once changed into a jpeg and our memories, as we remember them, shape us into who we become. Life recycles as we remember the past and evolve. My art is about interpreting life, memories and knowledge, what makes life possible, and how this all will affect the future.
