Christmas…

Spent lots of time working on updating my Christmas Card List, trying to make sure I have updated and correct addresses. It has been hard to find enough studio time but with that said… I have purchased all gifts and wrapped all that I have received so far in the mail. Did a lot more store shopping this year. I find shopping in person to be a bit overwhelming because too many people are too stressed and not feeling the Christmas Spirit. They just seem to be out there trying to get it all over and done. Lots of rudeness easily forgiven as you watch the stressed expressions on people’s faces.

My favorite time of the year is putting up the decorations. I have had so many for so many years, so many memories. Two in particular made by my Grandmother Anna are very dear to me and I think of her when I hang them on the tree. They are both felt ornaments. One is a dear little angel with white angora knit hair gathered into a bun framing her white felt wings, the other a white felt horse, both decorated with sequins and embroidery.

And I love reliving the moment of gifting with each of the ornaments I have given my husband as I hang each on the tree every year. Year after year I think about those years and what was happening in our lives and his reactions to many of them. It is a blessing to have the memories of by-gone Christmases.

Probably will do no more posting until after Christmas Day so I wish all a very Merry Christmas. May the spirit of the holiday guide you through the busy-ness and craziness of the holiday. Breathe and enjoy the season. Stop and listen and enjoy every single moment. These too will suddenly become memories of a soon gone past.

About Kat Bryan Wallace

I am a two-dimensional artist and writer working with memories interpreted in paintings, drawings, photographs and my writing. Memory is powerful but not perfect… it changed like a raw photographic image will never return to its original image once changed into a jpeg and our memories, as we remember them, shape us into who we become. Life recycles as we remember the past and evolve. My art is about interpreting life, memories and knowledge, what makes life possible, and how this all will affect the future.
