Day 8 of the Flu…

Well this Christmas certainly did not turn out to be as expected. I have a delightful case of influenza…. this is about my 8th day and believe me, don’t think it is over yet. The only good thing about the flu is that you lose weight (and that is only good if it is a personal goal).

We had a very quiet intimate Christmas. First I got sick and four days following, my husband Dean came down with the flu or a similar ailment. We have yet to determine if his is just a terrible terrible cold as he appears to be missing some of my symptoms … Thank Goodness.

I have missed all socializing, Liquid Christmas Cheer, and Chocolate. Trying to stay away from others so not to infect anyone else. Anything other than water in a liquid form seems to be very upsetting to my system and chocolate puts my stomach into acute distress. And I can’t lean over as it puts horrible pain in my head. Although I do appear to be working my way through the symptoms (the body aches are lessening), I am extremely weak and have a feeling my major job at the moment is resting and getting over this malady.

That takes a while to accept. I am not a sitter. But as I remind myself that I do want to get better as quickly as possible it becomes a little easier to just rest.

I did get the flu shot… which I find was only 30% effective against the current virus. Obviously, not enough for my system.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year… next year I will be healthy. Smiling…

About Kat Bryan Wallace

I am a two-dimensional artist and writer working with memories interpreted in paintings, drawings, photographs and my writing. Memory is powerful but not perfect… it changed like a raw photographic image will never return to its original image once changed into a jpeg and our memories, as we remember them, shape us into who we become. Life recycles as we remember the past and evolve. My art is about interpreting life, memories and knowledge, what makes life possible, and how this all will affect the future.
