Falling into the new routine…

I believe Fall is my favorite Season. Love when it is just a bit chilly and I can pull out and put on boots and sweaters.

Done with physical therapy… back on my schedule in the studio (finally), my grandchildren are back in school and as much as I will miss my days with them; my studio is beckoning. I’ve rewritten my artist statement and am working on a new series of paintings. Right now blocking out, scheduling the direction of my future work and doing some sketches for the series. I’ve acquired some of the wood for some new canvas frames and tomorrow will unpacked my mitre saw (finally) to make the frames.

Attended an interesting art opening at the Kiehl Gallery yesterday: “A World We Inhabit, A World We Made” by Daniel Dean and Ben Moren. Their work was interestingly centered on the thought of what we consider real, the tension between the physical world and its representations increasingly begging the question of reality. I enjoyed their talk and the corresponding slides leading to the joint exhibit. Always good to be with those in the creative community: makes me stretch and so anxious to begin work on the new canvases.

About Kat Bryan Wallace

I am a two-dimensional artist and writer working with memories interpreted in paintings, drawings, photographs and my writing. Memory is powerful but not perfect… it changed like a raw photographic image will never return to its original image once changed into a jpeg and our memories, as we remember them, shape us into who we become. Life recycles as we remember the past and evolve. My art is about interpreting life, memories and knowledge, what makes life possible, and how this all will affect the future.
