So I’m sure by now I am not the only one wishing for the end of the year, for 2021 to be here and without Covid-19. WOW… what a terrible year with the virus, George Floyd’s murder, the Trump Presidency, etc., etc., etc.

If something is going to go wrong it will be this year. We have had multiple issues with so many things that it is common to hear a person say, “Well, it’s 2020 of course that happened.”

I am wishing for the end of the pandemic, a good solid workable vaccine for Covid-19 and an end to so many deaths from the virus. I am also praying for an end to the anger, prejudice, and injustice for all races that are suffering. No race should have to have “the talk” with their young as they become teenagers.

I am struggling with the political climate here in the United States and in particular our current President who has none of the qualities and traits of a man I could admire: credibility, compassion, warmth, wisdom, subtlety, tact, sensitivity, self-awareness, humility, honor and grace. He never laughs, he jeers making fun of others, He talks (and I believe only thinks) in crude, witless insults with petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness. His idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult or a casual act of cruelty. I see no depth in this man, only surface. I see him as a man who feels himself to be entitled and privileged to take whatever he wants.

I see him as a bully and frankly, I don’t see any basic decency in him. He does what a gentleman should never do, he is always hitting below the belt, taking the low road, kicking the vulnerable. This man talks about ogling young naked women at beauty pageants and grabbing a woman’s delicate areas. He has been accused of numerous rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment charges, including non-consenual kissing or groping by at least 25 women since the 1970s. He was recorded bragging that a celebrity like himself “can do anything to women.”

And the fact that so many Americans look at what he does and says and listens to him and then says or thinks, “yep, he’s my kind of President, I’ll vote for him again”, is totally perplexing to me because his flaws seem pretty hard to miss. He is petty, cruel, and nasty and is trying to turn this country into a dictatorship. He is disrespectful of women and their rights. He does not believe in compassion, humility, honor or grace and always takes the low road.

I believe that Trump is cut from the same cloth as Adolph Hitler and that concerns me as an American. Although some Christians may feel he is on their side, that is not the case among most Christian, and other religions, who truly believe in kindness and taking care of others as written in their Holy Words.

I truly hope that the American People will make good choices this November but am also cognizant of the fact that there are ways to “fix” elections and that means our current President may prevail against the choice of the common vote. I am not prepared or willing to live under a Dictator. Are you will to sacrifice your freedom for this man? Please make good choices.
